Turning Inward
By Sepideh Yeoh, MS, CCOUR MODERN LIVING LEAVES VERY LITTLE TIME TO FOCUS INWARD. AS A SOCIETY, WE HAVE A VERY OUTWARD LOOK AND TEND TO LOOK FOR ANSWERS OUTSIDE OF OURSELVES. THE GREAT PERSIAN POET RUMI CREATED MANY BEAUTIFUL AND MEANINGFUL COLLECTIONS, BUT THERE IS ONE LINE THAT SAYS SO MUCH IN SO FEW WORDS. THE ENGLISH TRANSLATION IS “WHATEVER YOU ARE LOOKING FOR, YOU ARE.” THE IDEA THAT WE HOLD ALL THE ANSWERS AND SOLUTIONS WITHIN IS NOT NEW, at least not to meditation practitioners who appreciate and understand the importance of looking within for energy, healing, harmony, peace and of course, the answers.
